Packages

The client´s package is received in the Laredo USA warehouse and it is delivered to the Merkalink.com customs agent for the necessary import procedures. After customs, it is sent immediately to your address in Mexico. The shipment is stopped only if you ask for any charge approval or if there is any problem with the documentation. The delivery to Mexico takes three working days long (there are some exceptions for remote towns)

Store & Forward

You can specify in your account profile if you want Merkalink to store & forward your parcels. The incoming packages are stored in our warehouse in Laredo. At teh end of the month, teh packages are re-packed in a single parcel and forwarded to your address in Mexico. This way you can save money on handling charges. There are some restrictions to store & forward of packages:

We can only re-pack deliveries such as books, CDs, DVD, videos, Software, manuals, CD games, and all others that can be packed together in one box for shipment to Mexico.

Merchandise with special packing (televisions, DVD players, computers, for example) must be shipped in their original packing; they cannot be included in the store & forward prodcut. This merchandise is always sent immediately.

Additional operational restrictions:

Size of the re-packed box: max. 30 x 45 x 30 cm
Weight: max. 50 kg
Value of shipment max. US$ 1000 CIF*
Quantity of articles per box max 20

*CIF = Cost, Insurance Freight

Mailbox (documents and magazines)

The mailbox shipments (magazines and documents) are stored and sent to Mexico with the frequency indicated in the user profile. The delivery takes three working days long (there are some exceptions for remote towns).

In the case of the Mailbox, if one shipment is returned to the warehouse because it could not be delivered, it will be sent with the next shipment unless the client asks for an immediate delivery .

Shipment Operation

Merkalink.com makes all its deliveries to Mexico with Estafeta Mexicana, through an strategic alliance. Once your shipment crosses the border and it is delivered to Estafeta, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing the waybill number so that you can track your shipment online. In this e-mail you will receive the Merkalink operation or reference number. Any complaint about the shipment delivery should be made on the Estafeta customer service's line.

Packing Weight

The weight of all the shipments is calculated taking into consideration the weight of the packing. The shipment´s weight is the weight of the merchandise plus the packing. In normal deliveries, the packing does not weight too much, but in the deliveries of fragile or special products (glass, crafts) the packing could be an important part of the weight of the shipment.

Delivery Schedules

The delivery of packages and documents through Estafeta, is made to the addressee within business hours (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.), from monday to friday. It is the addressee's responsibility to have someone who receives the package. If there is nobody at the specified address, the Estafeta messenger will leave a written notice.

Delivery Notice and Forwarding

If there is nobody at the specified address, the Estafeta messenger will leave a written notice. At the first notice, we will try to deliver the package the next day. If there is nobody who receives the package, a second notice will be left. After the second notice, the client must contact the specified Estafeta office to pick up the package at the Estafeta Operational Center. After the second notice, Estafeta will not send the package again.

After three working days, the package is sent back to the Merkalink Operations Center located in Queretaro. You must contact Merkalink for us to forward the package. Forwarding generates an extra charge unless the client proves that Estafeta didn't give the corresponding notices .

Restrictions

EAt this moment, we can only accept shipments costing up to US$1000 dollars (including taxes and delivery in the United States). The packages must fulfill the Estafeta weight and size requirements and their contents should not go against the transportation restrictions (see the Importation and Transportation section in the Information Center).
