1. Are there any prohibited products or merchandise of limited importation ?

When using your Merkalink account you must consider the following:

1. At this moment merchandise costing more than $1000 dollars, including shipment, cannot be sent.

2. There are some restrictions in the number of products of the same kind that can be sent in the same shipment. See amount list. See amount list.

3. Used computer equipment cannot be imported.

4. Many products made in China have high compensatory rates specially toys and clothing.

5. You should keep in mind the list of prohibited or dangerous products.

2. Can I send packages to other people and addresses in Mexico ?

Yes you can. The Merkalink system allows you to have up to 5 personal addresses and all the additional addresses you require. The personal addresses are those that are used for the delivery of your own shipments. The additional addresses are used for delivery of shipments to other people or delivery of gifts.

You can only have one active personal address at the same time. All the shipments with your name and user ID will be delivered at the active address.

All the shipments with your user ID and with other person's name will be delivered to the address registered in the system at that person's name.

Example 1: You live in the USA and you want to send some items to your relatives in Mexico. You are registered as a Merkalink client and in the "additional addresses" you register your relatives with their corresponding addresses in Mexico. When you purchase something in the USA, you ask the store to send the product with the name of the final addressee in Mexico, with your address and your Merkalink user ID. We receive the shipment in Laredo, TX. and we send it to your relative in Mexico.

Example No. 2: You live in Mexico and you purchase some products online for your friends in Mexico who don't have a credit card or don't know how to use Internet. You register your friends with their corresponding addresses in the Merkalink system. You ask the store in the USA to send the shipment with the name of the addressee, and we send the package to the person registered in the system.

3. Do I have to sign in at the shops to purchase?

Yes you do. Merkalink is a platform for shipment deliveries, not for purchasing. In order to make puchases online in the USA you must locate the shops and register with them to be able to buy.

4. What kind of control or tracking do I have over my shipment once it has been delivered to Merkalink in the USA?

Once a package has been delivered to Merkalink in Laredo, TX., the store where you bought your merchandise is no longer responsible of the shipment. Now, it is Merkalink's responsibility.

Each package that is received is registered immediately in our system and it is given an Estafeta waybill number. All throughout the importation and delivery process in Mexico, you can check the status of the shipment online in our site or you can track it in the Estafeta site.

5. Is my shipment assured? What would happen if it gets lost ?

All the shipments made by Estafeta are assured for the amount of 30 times the effective daily minimum wage in Mexico City when the loss is imputable to Estafeta. We have an optional insurance that covers up to $70,000 mexican pesos with a 20% insurance deductible. The insurance cost is 1.25% of the shipment price, or a minimum of US$1.75. The Estafeta shipments are highly secure. In case of loss please report it to: soporte@merkalink.com.mx, for us to determine the causes and, if necessary, proceed with the insurance payment.
